Bett's Memoir

Bett passed away on October 1, 2018. She is greatly missed.

Bett wanted to leave behind her life story and why not? Her life had been rich and full and challenging. She had been sending chapters by email to me over a two year period, not knowing her time was to be limited. But as I was her friend, I had collected her stories and I had saved them for her in one long WORD file.

In the second week of August 2018, she asked me, the writer of her blog of Bett's weavings, to make her manuscript into a book. It was her last request to me. After days of struggling to edit her texts, I realized I could not do this by myself, so when Bett told me she had saved up to pay for this project and could pay whatever it took, I asked fellow writers of the Creative Academy for help.

With the generous assistance of  Crystal Strachnahan and the writers and editors of the Creative Academy, it was edited, proofed, set up with graphics and photos and printed in Victoria BC by an amazing man who went out of his way to print it in an impossible time frame.

Because of these generous and kind people, the book was in her hands three days before she died. Bett was extremely happy when I placed it into her hands that day. I felt so blessed to have been part of this little miracle of a project that made my friend so happy in spite of all our sadness of knowing her life would soon end.

In her words "My book has made my last days full of joy!"

Signing off for her now.
Goodbye, Dear Bett.
I miss you so much.
